Power sharing deal reached between Bhutto, Musharraf: PML-N
South East Asia News.Net Monday 30th July, 2007 (ANI)
Karachi, July 30 : President General Pervez Musharraf and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto have reached a power-sharing deal in Abu Dhabi, claimed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
"We learnt through our sources that not only did they meet, but they also finalised the much-orchestrated deal too," said Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Secretary General of the PML-N.
Jhagra claimed that the reinstatement of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry by the Supreme Court, had made the holding of the high-level meeting all more urgent, and added that details of the agreement would surface in a couple of days.
Jhagra, however, rejected the denials issued by the spokespersons of Musharraf and Bhutto about the meeting having taken place in Abu Dhabi.
"Should Bhutto help Musharraf get re-elected as President for another term without uniform, the PML-N and its allied political parties will approach the Supreme Court," he warned.
"President Musharraf is part of the problem and not part of the solution," the Daily Times quoted Jhagra, as saying.
Jhagra alleged that Bhutto had ditched the PML-N and its leader Nawaz Sharif despite the fact that she had assured them that they would be taken into confidence if there were any talks with the Musharraf regime.
Bhutto's meeting was a violation of the Character of the Democracy (CoD) reached in London last month, he maintained.
It may be revealed that Bhutto and Sharif had signed the CoD and vowed they would never join hands with Musharraf. Email this story to a friend
