Prachanda warns of revolt in Nepal
South East Asia News.Net Friday 9th May, 2008 (ANI)
Kathmandu, May 9 : Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) chairman Prachanda warned of revolt if his party was barred from leading the new government in Nepal.
He said the Seven Party Alliance (SPA) meeting would pave way for formation of new a government.
Prachanda further said that the people would sweep away all if anyone creates a hurdle on the day the Constituent Assembly (CA) declares Nepal a republic. The task has to be completed by May 28.
"Nepali people will really become sovereign for the first time in history, and feudalism will come to an end once and for all," Nepalnews quoted Prachanda as saying. Email this story to a friend

Prachanda warns of revolt in Nepal
This again shows that PKD & Maoists do not believe in competitive politics. They should take parties into confidence rather than giving warning.
Is he talking about YCL (People) that would sweep away if any one creates hurdle.
He is sounding like a child rather than a seasoned politician.

Seven party alliance should realise that invitation of the disaster could create a drastic result in near ruture, therefore, think before to make your passage for the chair.

One thing is clear: Maoists should be allowed to lead the impending government. They have already been given that mandate by the people. Any attempts at thwarting this will certainly invite vicious resistance.
Meantime, the Maoist leadership should not forget that they have been given that mandate only on condition that they abide by democratic norms and practices. The massive mandate that they received during the recent poll should be taken in the light of Maoist’s professed commitment to a host of truces and peace agreements they signed with the democratic forces.
Undoubtedly, Maoists have to face enormous challenges as they move forward. Abolishment of monarchy and the integration of PLA into the Nepalese Army are the most formidable ones. The success of the Maoist leadership will, to a large extent, depend on the resolution of these two issues. They demand pragmatic statesmanship and political acumen of the highest order.
The Maoist leadership should cease to threaten the Nepalese with 'violent revolution'. Their so-called 'peoples war' actually could not achieve anything except for creating an atmosphere wherein they had no choice but to surrender before the 'peaceful democratic process'. No less worth mentioning is the fact that they were ignominiously defeated at the hands of Nepal Army on many fronts. This is what propelled them into submitting themselves to 'burguoise democratic process'.
If the Maoist leadership tries to create any problem on the strength of popular mandate, neither the NA nor the monarchy (however, suspended for the time being)will remain silent. Prachanda and co. should have a thorough knowledge of how political forces form alignments and realignments in order to defend their respective interests. Is there any guarantee that democratic forces, as are already mortified by the Maoist victory, will not join forces with the monarchy and NA in a frantic bid to stop Nepal from going the Maoist way? Besides, when it comes to protecting fundamental democratic values, everybody knows who the international community (read America, Japan, European Union and International financial institutions) will side with. If the past experience of neighboring countries is any indication, they will not hesitate even to support the NA/monarchy combine to foil the diabolic dream of Maoists about creating a totalitarian communist state.I can’t even think that NC and the UML will not be prepared to join this anti-Maoist bandwagon. Because, the rise of Maoists inexorably leads to the decline of what they stand for. Above all, in politics it is nothing but power that dictates their move. It has been amply highlighted by NC leader and once diehard anti-communist, Girija Koirala’s grotesque subservience to the Maoist leadership over the last few years.
