Pak slams Jaipur serial blasts

Islamabad, May 14 : Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani last night condemned the seven bomb blasts that occurred in Jaipur, killing nearly 100 and injuring more than 250 people.

"Pakistan condemns all acts of terrorism and reaffirms its firm commitment to fight this scourge together with the international community," the Daily Times quoted him as saying in a statement.

The country's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also condemned the bombings, and offered his condolences to bereaved families.

Last evening, as many as seven serial bomb blasts rocked the Pink City within 12 minutes, which left the state's government and security in a state of shock. Among the places targeted by unknown terrorists were temples and famous food joints, claiming lives of innocent people, mostly women. This was the first of kind attack in the Pink City, one of the famous tourist spots in the country.

Preliminary reports suggest the hand of banned fundamental organization HUJI's hand behind the blasts, though no arrests have been made in this regard so far.

The state government has declared a bandh as a mark of protest against the serial blasts. All government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed today, said a state government advisory.
