PCB also planning Pakistan Premier League

Islamabad, May 14 : Taking a cue from the success of Indian Premier League (IPL) and with the objective of generating quick revenue, the PCB is reportedly planning to start a 20twenty cricket league on the lines of IPL. The other aim is to boost domestic cricket in the country.

Dropping enough hints about the same, PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf last evening said that the Board was waiting for an opportune time to start the cricket league, and claimed a large number of sponsors had expressed willingness to be a part of the league.

"We will be waiting for a suitable time to start the tournament as many corporate institutions here have also shown their willingness to sponsor the event," the Dawn quoted Dr Nasim as saying at a news conference after PCB's board of governors' meeting.

He said that due to the ICC-Future Tours Programme (FTP), there was presently no gap available for organising such an event and the PCB would be working on the details.

It has also been decided that all the 13 regions of the PCB would be allowed to hire the services of two foreign players but priority would be given to the local players.
