Protest against Nepal Vice President for taking oath in Hindi
South East Asia News.Net Thursday 24th July, 2008 (ANI)
Kathmandu, July 24 : There were minor demonstrations in Nepal against the newly elected Vice President Parmananda Jha after he took his oath of office and secrecy in Hindi.
According to Nepalnews, student organisations affiliated with different parties staged demonstrations today. They demanded that Jha apologize for taking oath in a "foreign language".
Residents of Gajuri in Dhading district also barred vehicles from plying on the road by imposing transportation strike.
They said that this was a matter of grave concern, putting at risk the sovereignty of the country.
In Butwal, youths chanted slogans against Jha. They blocked traffic on major roads and intersections. There were reports of protests in Makwanpur, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Dadelhura and Tahahun also.
On Wednesday, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, clad in the Nepal costume, had taken the oath of office and secrecy in Nepali. However, when he administered the oath of office to Vice President Jha, who was clad in a dress many identify with Indian parliamentarians, the latter preferred to take it in Hindi.
According to an independent statistics, only 0.05 per cent of people living in Terai speak Hindi. The majority of the people there speak Bhojpuri, Maithali, Avadhi and other local dialects.

Bullshit sequence of events.
Why cant anyone take oath in Hindi in Nepal.
And its very sarcastic for some people to say that Mr. Jha should have taken oath in his Mother tongue Maithili.
Its not at all an unknown fact how supressed is Maithili in Nepal. Maithili people are not allowed to join Army. Mr. Jha would have definately faced some criticism even if he would have used Maithili.
Its even more sarcastic for few people to say that Maithili or Bhojpuri or Avadhi people should go to India if they want Hindi. Who are you to suggest this. We have been living in Tarai area for milleniums. Its our land. And we are not the people of Indian Origin. And we have all right to accept any language. Arent we guys looking at English now a days. Compared to Hindi its much more foreign language for us. Infact it resembles Nepali more than Maithili. We are the actual people of Madhya-Desh. Because of some political reasons we are in Nepal. So are Nepalis in North Bengal and other parts of India.
If Nepali people in India can be more Indian than Nepali why cant an Maithili or Avadhi or Bhojpuri people in Nepal be more Nepali than Indian. Lets look forward for a plural society where we have place for everyone and where a DHOTI is accepted as First citizen of the country. If we fail in this nothing can stop us from disintegrating.

Beginning of Jha Dynasty
It is despicable to see how quickly Shah Dynasty is replaced by Jha Dynasty in Nepal! We better start learning Hindi before they push us in masses to Bihar for a crash course in speaking Hindi as well as wearing Dhoti properly.

Nepalese National Language
DUE TO THE Brahmans majority in Nepal politics, there are no suitable original Nepalese BHUMI PUTRA candidates available for the post of a President & Vice President of Nepal. Mr.Parmananda Jha as a Vice President of Nepal, failed to convince me that he is a real pro Nepalese citizen by taking oath in Hindi. We are very sorry to have these Indian origin President and Vice President in our country; Shameful for ourselves & our nation.
