Gilani says Cameron's remarks against Pak can affect war on terror
South East Asia News.Net Friday 30th July, 2010 (ANI)
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the issue of hostile statements made by British Prime Minister David Cameron would be taken up at a diplomatic level, and warned that such statements could adversely affect the war against terrorism.
"Such statements could affect the war against terrorism," The Dawn quoted Gilani, as saying.
The Prime Minister further referring to Pakistan's role in the war on terror, pointed out that the country had suffered more casualties and deployed more forces to fight terrorism than the entire US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan.
"Pakistan has never claimed to be a super power, but is currently undertaking efforts against terrorism in its best capacity," he added.
Cameron has provoked a diplomatic row with Pakistan, when he accused Islamabad of "exporting terrorism".
"We should be very, very clear with Pakistan that we want to see a strong, stable and democratic Pakistan," Cameron said during his visit to India.
"We cannot tolerate in any sense the idea that this country is allowed to look both ways and is able, in any way, to promote the export of terror, whether to India or to Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world," he added.
This is not the first time that Britain has raised the threat of terrorism that emanates from Pakistan.
Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown had once said that the bulk of the threat of terrorism to Britain came out of Pakistan's restive tribal regions near the Afghan border. (ANI) Email this story to a friend

I would have made some comments on the British Prime Minister’s uncalled for statement in India against Pakistan to secure few trade contracts. I find it below my dignity to do so, since Britain is a third rate country and 0 rated power who cannot get done any thing right. Blaming others for her own insecurity and weaknesses has always been Brit’s foreign policy traits. Indian media and her politicians are very proud, of course, with this kind of nonsensical statement which really change nothing. Pakistan does what is good for her national interest and will keep doing it and should be following the course. As for our Indian neighbors may I suggest that glee on Brit’s Prime Minister comments is not wise and not justified. Strengthen your own police force to prevent any terrorist act either from within or without you borders. It’s a well known fact among India’s intellectuals and some politicians that Pakistan is really a friend of India if accepted as such. we are from the same stock as you and we do not want a perpetual and proverbial quarrel of the neighbors.
