NEGROS ORIENTAL, Oct. 8 (PIA) - Police authorities have strengthened the security measures set in place for the Buglasan Festival as thousands of local and national visitors and officials are expected to witness the biggest event of the year in Negros Oriental.

Governor Roel Degamo assures the public that security measures are all ready for implementation for the Buglasan festivities from the opening salvo on October 13 to October 24's grand NegOrense international performing artists battle of champions as the culmination.

Gov. Degamo said the law enforcement agencies are giving their best efforts to meet all the security requirements including traffic related issues.

"It is with assurance that I apprise everyone of the provincial government's commitment for a peaceful and orderly Buglasan celebration. All of these we prepared administratively and we gave great attention to all, for the fun and joy of the people of our province," Degamo added.

One of the most awaited events during the festival is the 'LGU Freedom Fair Booths' that will official open on October 13, 4:30 p.m. Twenty

local government units have conveyed their interest in participating event at the Capitol Grounds.

This year's Buglasan Festival of Festivals highlights many events like Search for Miss Negros Oriental 2018 with Sec. Harry Roque as guest of honor on October 15, 8:00 p.m. at the Lamberto L. Macias Sports and Cultural Center.

To grace the Buglasan Festival of Festivals Showdown will be Mayor Sarah Duterte of Davao City on October 19.

For the Street Dance Festival on October 19 at, 2:00 p.m. Gov. Imee Romualdez Marcos of Illocos Norte is invited to witness as the parade threads along the streets of Dumaguete City,

For Festival King and Queen Competition set October 19 at 7:30 pm. Senator Cynthia Villar of the Philippine Senate is guest of honor. The events happen at the Freedom Park Stage.

This year's Buglasan Festival of Festivals also showcases many talents, from arts to sports, Underwater Photo Contest, Elementary and High School marching band competition, Binaryong Volleyball Festival, Buglasan Weightlifting Competition, Folk Dance competition, Dance sports competition, choir, solo and Duet competitions, Live band competition, Mix Martial Arts competition, Rap and Hiphop Dance competitions, Magdegamo Negorense Talents Concert, Mr. Buglasan Body Building competition and Buglasan Magdegamo NegOrense Got Talent among others.

With this a lot of events and personalities, Gov. Degamo said the security blueprint for Buglasan 2018 is ready for implementation that all the law enforcement agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), are ready for the festival.
