COTABATO CITY, Mar. 28 (PIA)--- The city government here has called on residents to support the initiatives they have laid down to prevent the spread of the dreaded coronavirus disease or COVID-19).

City administrator Dr. Danda Juanday said if only everyone is cooperating in identifying individuals coming in and out of the city, the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) will be able to check those persons under monitoring.

"If these PUMs are identified, our health frontliners can isolate and take care of them and there will come a time that the rest will have a normal life," Dr. Juanday stated.

Meanwhile, city health officer Dr. Meyasser Patadon emphasized that the two individuals positive of COVID-19, who are now under an undisclosed isolation facility prepared by their families, are on close monitoring.

"The two confirmed cases here were both discharged from the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center and are now on stable condition." He noted.

Dr. Patadon also appealed to the residents to follow not just the guidelines of the city LGU but also the advice of health frontliners as he pointed out that the case of the two COVID-19 positive individuals is a success story of how cooperation works.

"Everyone should follow quarantine protocols particularly on staying home as a public health measure," he emphasized adding that the community quarantine is being implemented to prevent the spread and increase of number of positive cases.

Cotabato City recorded two COVID-19 positive cases this month. One is identified as PH145, a 32-year old male with a history of travel to Malaysia and the other one is PH599, a 68-year old female with a history of travel to Manila. (PIA-Cotabato City)
