AFP Chief lauds 3rd Mech for anti-insurgency efforts

TARLAC CITY, Jan.19 (PIA) -- Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Gilbert Gapay lauded the Army 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion (3rd Mech) for its efforts in ending local communist armed conflict.

During his visit at the headquarters of 3rd Mech in San Jose, Tarlac, he recognized the unit's contribution in achieving AFP's mandate.

"Your efforts and accomplishments truly bespeak of your unceasing dedication in maintaining a peaceful and rightful environment for all," Gapay said.

The official likewise recalled his term as the battalion commander in the unit. "It is a great honor to once again visit the unit that has been a big part of my journey as a soldier," Gapay shared.

"It helped me propel to higher position and responsibilities all the way up to becoming the Chief of Staff of the AFP," he added.

Gapay likewise led the blessing of the new 10-door Officers' Quarters and Water System which was built through the initiative of 3rd Mech's Commanding Officer Lt. Col Norberto Aromin Jr.

Finally, he motivated the unit's personnel to pursue their duties for the country.

"Continue doing well in fulfilling our mandate and objective towards peace, security, and development," he said. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
