Tragic bus accident kills 5 injures 27 in Jararkot

JARARKOT, Nepal - On Sunday, at around 2 a.m., five persons were killed, and 27 others were injured in a bus accident in the Jajarkot area.

According to authorities, a bus traveling from Nepalgunj to Rukum West with 32 passengers fell into a ravine 150 meters down the road at Kudu Bara Chowk in Bheri Municipality.

Five individuals died on the scene, according to Deputy Superintendent Madhu Kumar Thapa of the District Police Office in Jajarkot.

"Twenty-seven injured people were rescued by the police with the help of the locals," said DSP Thapa. "The injured have been taken to Jajarkot District Hospital for treatment."

He said that the victims' rescue operation was delayed because the tragedy occurred early in the morning, and the investigation into the details of the accident was ongoing.

According to police, the identity of the deceased has still to be ascertained.
